The Maritime Bay Classic presented by Shipbuilders Credit Union returns to downtown Manitowoc on Sunday, June 16 – Father’s Day. Part of the Tour of America’s Dairyland, the largest competitive cycling series in the United States, the Maritime Bay Classic will transform downtown streets into a bustling bike race course as hundreds of men and women from around the world compete for the top prizes.
Downtown Manitowoc, Visit Manitowoc and cycling enthusiasts have partnered to once again bring the Maritime Bay Classic to the community. Racing kicks off at 11:30 a.m. and continues through 8:15 p.m. During this time, over 400 men and women from around the world will compete in various categories.
At 6:00 p.m., the race will hold Community Hour. During this hour, there will be both a kids’ race and fat bike race open to community members. The kids’ race is open to children 12 and under competing in three age groups. All participating children will be entered into a raffle to win a new bike provided by Broken Spokes Bikes.
Downtown business owners will be offering specials and deals throughout the day. Spectators are encouraged to watch along the course and visit downtown businesses for a drink, meal and the best views of the races.
Volunteers are still needed for the race. All volunteers will receive a free 7’’ pizza from Pizza Garden and a T-shirt.
