There’s a new way to explore the city of Manitowoc. Visit Manitowoc has launched a Public Arts Trail and Historic Landmark Trail as part of a program they are calling Visit Manitowoc Passes.

Visitors and residents may access these mobile exclusive trail passes for free, complete the trail by checking in at each location, and then claim a reward for completing the pass. The two passes are available at www.visitmanitowoc.com/passes. Participants can simply click “Sign Up” to receive their pass from a company called Bandwango; there are no apps to download. They have a year to check in via GPS at each location and earn points, which they can claim for a limited-edition art postcard if completing the Public Arts Trail or a Visit Manitowoc tote bag if completing the Historic Landmark Trail.

The trails are meant to spark interest in the arts and history of Manitowoc, and is by no means an exhaustive list. Some of the stops include the Ruth West Imagination mural seen at the corner of 8th St and Maritime Dr, the S.S. Badger Lake Michigan Carferry ticket office, and the Sputnik Crash Site.

“We believe our new pass program will inspire deeper exploration of our city and enhance the visitor experience by shining a light on our destination’s creativity and rich history,” says Director of Tourism Courtney Hansen. “I’m excited to help visitors experience Manitowoc in a new way and look forward to expanding this program throughout the year, utilizing this tool to showcase our local restaurants, breweries and attractions while driving economic impact.”
